A whisper from black bolt can level a city, cause distance volcanoes to become active one more, shake entire continents apart and generate tremors on the far side of the planet. It can rip planet into half and destroy an entire solar system.


Black Bolt is the ruler of the Inhumans, a reclusive race of genetically altered superhumans. Black Bolt's signature power is his voice, as his electron-harnessing ability is linked to the speech center of his brain. Speaking triggers a massive disturbance in the form of a highly destructive shockwave capable of leveling a city. Due to the extreme danger posed by this power, the character has undergone rigorous mental training to prevent himself from uttering a sound, even in his sleep, and he usually remains completely silent and speaks through sign language or via a spokesperson.


Black Bolt Fun Facts

  2. When Black Bolt speaks, it triggers a massive disturbance in the form of a highly destructive shock-wave that’s capable of leveling an entire city.
  3. While using a machine that focused his energy, Black Bolt screamed so loud that he punched a hole through time and space. Even Reed and Tony were surprised by his power output.
  4. Black Bolt’s Quasi-Sonic scream is powered by electron energy that he draws in from the environment. At maximum, the force is equal to that caused by the detonation of a nuclear weapon
  5. . In World War Hulk, Black Bolt whispered to Hulk, breaking bones in his body and making him angrier. Hulk replied, “I didn’t come here for a whisper, I want to hear you scream!”
  6. . In the comics, it’s said that Black Bolt is almost as strong as the Hulk. He is an extremely close second in strength
  7. . He wears a metallic, fork-shaped antenna upon his brow that allows him to focus and channel his powers in more directed and less destructive ways. 
  8. Medusa often acts as a translator for Black Bolt 
  9. He can run at a speed so great that he’s invisible to the human eye. Black Bolt is said to be faster than Quicksilver.
